Jason Moss, M.D.
Jason Moss, M.D., an associate of California Retina Associates, specializes in the medical and surgical treatments of the retina and vitreous including macular holes, epiretinal membranes, retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. He was born and raised in Arkansas and attended the Arkansas School for Mathematics and Sciences for high school. He then moved to New York City and attended Columbia University, majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior. After that, he moved to California to attend Stanford University School of Medicine for his medical studies. Following completion of his M.D., Dr. Moss returned to the east coast to complete his ophthalmology residency training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, where he served as a chief resident during his final year. He then returned to California to complete a 2 year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery in Los Angeles.
Dr. Moss has been active in research in the field of ophthalmology throughout his training. He received the prestigious Medical Scientist Research Fellowship in medical school for his work on endophthalmitis prophylaxis in the setting of intravitreal injections. His efforts resulted in 3 first author papers in the journal Ophthalmology and he was awarded the Best Original Research Paper award for his research presentation at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting. His other research endeavors have resulted in numerous publications in journals as varied as Neurosurgery and Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging and poster and podium presentations at the American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASOPRS) and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) annual meetings. He was also selected as a Top Doctor in Pasadena magazine for 2015 and 2016.
Dr. Moss is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. His hospital affiliations include Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Sharp Memorial Hospital.
